Hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives and the landscapes came under the gigantic ocean waves due to that natural calamity. Among the worst hit countries were Sri Lanka and Indonesia; the countries having everlasting bonds of friendship and amiable relationship with Pakistan. Government of Pakistan instantaneously responded and diverted Pakistan Navy (PN) ships NASR and TARIQ for the immediate relief operations. The PN ships alongwith embarked helicopters, were already traversing through the area on a goodwill cruise to the friendly countries in the region and their presence could save a considerable amount of human life.
